Shipping, Trade & Transportation Law
The aim of this course is to provide the participant a legal and jurisdictional framework of logistics functions, which are linked into supply chains. The specific law framework applicable per section and the line of developments and dynamics per sector are explained. Distinction will be made between global, regional and the character of international and national sources of law applicable to the various sections of the supply chain. Structures, methodology of law sections, essential parallels in approach and differences in system are focused on, as these facilitate better understanding of the basic principles common to all transport and logistics sectors. The specific regimes, laws and regulations for the transport sectors are elaborated upon.
Security
This course intends to give insight into national and international application of the new security regime with regard to transport security. The recently developed ISPS Code will be used as a starting point to begin addressing global application of the new measures of both sea-side and shore-side cargo concerns. Further focus is on practical application of the new security measures and an understanding of the various regulations, directives, and trade requirements with regard to transport security.
