Maritime Finance and Controlling Management

The course consists of four parts: Management accounting; Financial Management, Management Control and applied Shipping and Port Financial Management.

The objectives of this course are:

  • To bring to course participants awareness of the major measurement en disclosure principles underlying financial   accounting;
  • Learn about the principles of financial management; in the context of corporate finance, the course will introduce the key principles of selecting investments, and financing them;
  • Enable participants to gain insights into various decision areas of financial management; Introduction to cost accounting concepts;
  • Develop participant’s ability to conduct financial analysis and perform basic financial computations; acquire skills in modern valuation techniques:
  • Learn key principles of management control and financial performance measurement tools and models;
  • Gain insight in ship and port financial structures on a corporate level.

The emphasis will be on applications and practice of finance by using examples in the Shipping and Port industry.
