teaching methods

Our professional courses are set up in such a way that participants are provided with a combination of subject matter knowledge education and competency development.

For the Master Shipping and Transport, STC-Korea combines four basic elements throughout the curriculum. STC-Korea believes that knowledge is transferred best when participants not just hear and read, but preferably interact with lecturers and other students in a real-life or simulated real-life environment. We offer a combination of the following basic educational elements:

- Contact hours as a platform for knowledge transfer and knowledge sharing between students lecturers, guest lecturers from business community and maritime institutions;
- Self study requires a student to develop a certain learning style and attitude to not only read, but also to draw own conclusions from background reading materials and make reflections to his or her personal experience;
- (Group) assignments; application of knowledge and insights is realised through assignments that are deducted from practical problems or common issues in the shipping industry. This is an important element of the Master program;
- Simulators; STC-Group has one of the world's largest simulator parks in the field of shipping and transport, ranging from ships navigation simulator, inland waterway simulator, straddle carrier simulator, to multimodal transport chain simulator. These facilities provide excellent opportunity to bring students in touch with the maritime and transport business.

In order to realise the desired knowledge and competency levels, STC-Korea has structured the educational process by following didactical objectives:
- Deepen knowledge and understanding of the maritime sector;
- Apply knowledge and understanding in analysing, diagnosing and solving maritime issues;
- Develop and improve management skills in an interactive setting;
- Develop learning skills and improve personal and team effectiveness
